On Monday, November 23, 2015, during a private visit to the Sanctuary of the Mother of God at Jasna Gora, Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchcinski and Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski prayed before the miraculous image of Mary Queen of Poland entrusting the affairs of the Fatherland to her.

– It is natural for us to come here. We have been elected legislative marshals and the first steps, so we think, must be directed to Jasna Gora - said the Speaker of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchcinski.

– We are humble civil servants and want to serve the nation in the best possible way, being aware of the burden that rests on us and the more than 1050-year history of Poland in Christian Europe, as well as the fact that we are representatives of the oldest legislature, as the Sejm had its own Speaker as early as the middle of the 16th century - Speaker Kuchcinski continued.

Senate Speaker Stanislaw Karczewski, meanwhile, stressed that he often visits Jasna Gora, especially at important moments in his life.

– I came here to kneel, to pray for the intentions of our homeland, all the issues that are before us, Poles - Karczewski said.

He added that they want to recommend all problems, difficult cases and plans through Mary's intercession.

The marshals' entrustment at Jasna Gora is part of preparations for the 1050th anniversary of Poland's baptism, which falls in 2016.
