- The Visegrad Group is not only political and economic cooperation. We should also act together in the cultural sphere - said the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński, opening the first exhibition of the Visegrad Group countries "Visegrad4Art".
The Marshal emphasized the importance of art for mutual relations between the V4, better understanding and getting to know each other. He recalled that this part of Europe is home to many world-renowned artists, such as Dvořák, Liszt, Bartók, Chopin, whose works in the largest philharmonics constitute half of the repertoire...
The collected works are united by a desire to rediscover painting, Painting Rediscovery. In the words of the exhibition curator, "a common existential style".
The speakers agreed on the function of art. It is a kind of alternative to get to know and understand each other better, and artists have their undoubted contribution to the spiritual development of Europe.
- From the parliamentary perspective, we decided that we should serve people of culture and artists, encourage them to prove that our countries have a similar mentality, as evidenced by the history of Visegrad, so it is easier for us to act together when thinking about the future," the Speaker argued.
The exhibition was organized on the initiative of the Chancellery of the Sejm and the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Przemysl, under the patronage of the Speaker of the Sejm. It consists of 100 works by 20 artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. It can be viewed until August 30, 2017 at the National Museum of the Przemysl Region.
