Bieszczady have a new Pooh's Hut

As of today, a new shelter, the highest in the Bieszczady Mountains (1,228 meters above sea level), is open on Połonina Wetlinska, which will also be the headquarters of GOPR rescuers, the National Medical Rescue Service, and the IMiGW Meteorological Post will operate next to the shelter.

- This is probably the only shelter of its kind in Poland. It's a bit of a shame about these atmospheres. A modern hostel will be a different era... in this respect, I am in favor of "preserving" what is. Tradition. the legend of the place, the people, the mountain "trapper" conditions... - said when the renovation work began Marek Kuchcinski, former Speaker of the Sejm, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, but also head of the Parliamentary Mountain Rescue Team.

Today Marek Kuchcinski also emphasizes the uniqueness of the place: - It is iconic for many generations of tourists and Bieszczady hikers. Also because of the hut's previous host Lutek Pinchuk. The chalet is also part of a large and ongoing project to develop tourist cooperation throughout the Carpathians, from the Zywiec Beskid Mountains to the Romanian Carpathians. And it is becoming an important place for hikers, just like the White Elephant, or the Jozef Pilsudski Observatory on Popa Ivan in Czarnohora," the marshal concluded.

The changes were forced by necessity, tourist demands and safety. However, the atmosphere of the old Pooh Hut still floats. After all, it is built by people. Before Lutek's successor - Julian - quite a challenge. We wish him good luck!
