In times of crisis, it makes sense to introduce unemployment insurance

Unemployment insurance could be a good solution to enable redundant people to survive the difficult period of looking for a new job and to counteract their poverty and social exclusion. One of the proposals, very generally discussed a few years ago, was a joint contribution for this purpose by the employer and employee. According to the assumptions at the time, the unemployed person would receive 60% of his or her previous salary for 12 months.

A benefit differentiated from the wage could significantly offset the financial shortfalls of the unemployed and their families resulting from the reduction in income. If the benefit is not differentiated from the current salary and is paid in the form of a fixed amount, as is currently the case, the material situation of the unemployed may become radically difficult.

In view of the above, Marek Kuchciński, MP, submitted an interpellation to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, asking whether the possibility of introducing insurance against unemployment has been analyzed in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy? If so, according to what key (how much would the employer be taxed, how much the employee be taxed? In what period from the loss of work would the benefit be due?). If not, why did the proposal fail to gain acceptance? The Board of the Region of NSZZ "Solidarity" Przemysl turned to the MP with regard to the introduction of such insurance.
