Oath of the Marshal's Guard

The 550th anniversary of Parliamentarism celebrated this year
Republic reminds us of the rich parliamentary
and civic heritage.
The history of the Sejm also includes the tradition of the Guard
Marszalkowska Street, dating back to the second half of the 16th century.
In the times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth the guard was
an elite formation. Its service was particularly protected.
In the Second Republic of Poland, the SM was established on the motion of Marshal Wojciech
Trąpczyński. The glorious tradition was restored and continued
also after World War II.
For 100 years it has been the duty of the SM to watch over
safety of Members and Senators and the agenda.
Serving at SM has always been a great honor. To ensure
the proper functioning of parliament, people were admitted to it
With appropriate training and moral certification.
In January 2018, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland passed the Law on Guard
Marshal, which introduces a new scope for this formation
rights, as well as new tasks and responsibilities in response to
challenges of today.
This bill expands the powers of the Speaker's Guard.
First of all, it changes the employment status of guards
from employee to service status by appointment, just as
officers of other uniformed services.
The vow is a special and symbolic moment.
Its submission is a commitment to faithful service, even at the risk of
of your own life. I firmly believe that in accordance with the Rotary Oath
you will sacrifice and persistently build the image of the Guard
Marszałkowska, as a formation ready for the most difficult tasks.
Please accept our sincere thanks for your exemplary
Performing difficult duties.
I wish you all the best
Of fulfilling this honorable service.

Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Sejm
