Biography and bibliography

BIOGRAPHY

Marek Kuchcinski, Zbigniew's son, president of the Society of Lovers of Lviv and South-Eastern Borderlands in Przemyśl (1990-1994), was born on 9 August 1955 in Przemyśl. In 1974-1978, he studied art history at the Catholic University of Lublin. In 1978, he graduated from the Post-Secondary Horticulture School. In the 1980s, he organized the independent culture environment in Przemyśl and published and co-edited the quarterly "Cultural Attic". He was active in the independent peasant movement - among other things, he was a member of the All-Poland Farmers' Resistance Committee and wrote articles for the underground OKOR magazine "Farmers' Solidarity". From 1982 he was an activist of the Farmers' Chaplaincy in Krasiczyn; he took part in the food aid for workers in Silesia, organized by Father Stanisław Bartmiński. In 1983-1989, he co-organized the Christian Culture Days in Przemyśl, as well as the independent international art exhibition "Man - God - World". In 1985, he was arrested for opposition activities. He was held in the detention center in Jarosław and in the Penitentiary Institution in Przemyśl. In 1989 he was a co-founder and a spokesman of the "Solidarność" Citizens' Committee in the Przemyśl region. In 1990-1992 he was a member of the National Civic Committee "Solidarity" with Lech Wałęsa. Founder and Chairman of the Centre Agreement (1990-1999) in the Przemyśl Province. In 1990-2000 President of the Przemysl Cultural Association, publisher of the quarterly 'Views of Przemysl'. He has been Vice President of the Rzeszow Branch of the Polish Journalists' Association. He chaired the programme council of the Polish Radio Rzeszów and was a correspondent of the Polish Radio Lvov. Between 1994 and 1999 he was a councillor in Przemyśl. From 1999 to 2001 Deputy Governor of the Podkarpackie Region. Since 2001, Law and Justice deputy to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland for consecutive terms of office. On 4 August 2010, he became a Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the 6th term, and on 8 November 2011 - Elected Deputy Speaker of the Sejm of the 7th term of office. He chaired the Sejm committees: Administration and Internal Affairs and Environment Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry. He was deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Ukraine and a member of the Polish-Hungarian Parliamentary Group. Since 2010 he has been the initiator of a series of meetings - conferences of the Carpathian countries under the motto "Carpathian Europe", which aim, among others, to strengthen cooperation and build an international network of parliamentarians working for sustainable development of the Carpathians. From 12 November 2015 to 09 August 2019 he held the post of Speaker of the Eighth Term Sejm. Elected as a Member of Parliament for the 9th term. As of September 15, 2020. Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, członek Komisji Łączności z Polakami za Granicą oraz Komisji Ochrony Środowiska, Przewodniczący Parlamentarnego Zespołu Karpackiego oraz Zespołu ds. Ratownictwa Górskiego. Przedstawiciel delegacji Sejmu i Senatu RP do Wymiaru Parlamentarnego Inicjatywy Środkowoeuropejskiej. Od 12 lutego 2020 r. przewodniczący  Polsko-Węgierskiej Grupy Parlamentarnej, uczestnik grup: Polsko-Słowackiej, Polsko-Rumuńskiej oraz Polsko-Czeskiej. Od 15 września 2020 r. był szefem Komisji Spraw Zagranicznych. Ze stanowiska zrezygnował powołany na szefa Kancelarii Rady Ministrów. Funkcję tę pełni od 12 października 2022 r.

He is married and has three children.

MAJOR AWARDS.
  • Cross of Freedom and Solidarity (2016) - for his involvement in opposition activities against the communist dictatorship of the People's Republic of Poland.
  • Order of Merit of Ukraine (2010) – for significant personal contribution to the development of
Polish-Ukrainian relations and strengthening of Ukraine’s authority in the world.

  • Grand Cross of the Order of Hungary (2018) - in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the building of political and social Hungarian-Polish relations.

  • Order "For Meritorious Service" to Lithuania (2019) - for his contribution to the development of relations between Lithuania and Poland, improving political, cultural, economic and social cooperation between the two countries.
