A couple of hang-upsThe professional unions once again appealed to Marek Kuchciński, MP, for support to keep the post of the medical dispatcher in Przemyśl. Therefore, the MP sent an interpellation to the Minister of Health on this matter, appealing for leaving the post of the medical dispatcher in Przemyśl.

 

The Minister of Health and the Voivode of Podkarpacie assume decreasing the number of those posts from 24 to 11 and decreasing the number of medical dispatchers from 22 to 4. The seats of dispatching centers are to be only in Rzeszow, Krosno, Sanok and Mielec. With such assumption inhabitants of Przemysl and Przemysl district will have to contact with the dispatcher in Sanok in order to call for emergency service and this in turn will redirect the call through other intermediaries, which will be operators of emergency numbers in Rzeszow and Krosno.

 

This "rationalization of the communication system" was met with a wave of criticism and protests from the medical circles and residents. Trade unions operating at the Saint Padre Pio Provincial Hospital in Przemysl have collected 18 thousand signatures advocating for keeping the post of a medical dispatcher at the hospital. The petition of the trade unions together with the signatures of the residents was handed over to the Governor of Podkarpacie Province on October 5th this year.

 

One of the most important factors deciding about saving life and health is time in which ambulance will reach a patient. Proposed by the government administration changes in the structure and the way of work of medical dispatchers are too risky, because they lengthen the way of reaching the patient.

            That is why the MP has intervened once again in this case.
