Summary of the 57th Session of the Polish Sejm

On Friday, the Sejm passed a package of bills concerning changes in the law
economic:

Business law - the most important act of the Business Constitution package. It introduces, among others, the rules of presumption of entrepreneur's honesty and resolving factual doubts in his/her favor. A natural person conducting business activity on a smaller scale (monthly revenue does not exceed 50% of the minimum remuneration) does not have to register this activity or pay social security contributions for it. Another solution is the so-called relief for starters - beginning entrepreneurs will not have to pay social insurance premiums for the first six months of running their business.

About the SME EnvoyThe law on the SME Envoy, which is part of the Business Constitution package, assumes that the SME Envoy will uphold the rights of micro, small and medium enterprises.

About Central Registration and Information on Business Activity. It assumes the possibility of suspending business activity by entrepreneurs - natural persons for any specified period of time and indefinitely.

On the rules of participation of foreign entrepreneurs in trading. The purpose of the act is to encourage foreigners living in Poland and foreign investors to develop their business in our country.

The Sejm has passed an amendment to the Act on Departments of Government AdministrationAccording to the agreement, the Prime Minister will supervise the state's housing policy, while matters related to the aesthetics of public space will fall within the competence of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

The Sejm passed the law on the marshal's guard, which is to increase the safety of those present on the premises of the Parliament, granting privileges to uniformed services, will replace the BOR during pyrotechnical and radiological reconnaissance. The SM will also be given the right to use or apply means of direct coercion and firearms. In addition, guards will be able to give orders to people whose behavior poses or may pose a threat to security, check their IDs and carry out personal checks.

The Sejm adopted a law on animal protection, toughening penalties for abuse and issuing a ban on animal ownership for abusers.

The Sejm passed an amendment to the Act on the National Court Register. It makes electronic filing of financial statements mandatory and abolishes the register of insolvent debtors.

The Sejm adopted amendments to the Act on the Protection of Tenants' Rights. It is intended, among other things, to provide residents with the right to substitute housing and to cover the costs of moving because of the need to repair or demolish a municipal building.

The Sejm accepted information from the Ministry of Interior and Administration on persons and organizations that may be suspected of promoting totalitarian systems and inciting hatred on the grounds of national, ethnic, racial and religious differences.

The Sejm has passed a bill on punishing the words "Polish death camps", and ws. denying the crimes committed by Ukrainian nationalists, acts committed by Ukrainian nationalists between 1925 and 1950, involving the use of violence, terror, or other forms of human rights violations against individuals or groups of people.

The Sejm has appointed a new judge to the Constitutional Tribunal. Professor Jarosław Wyrembak will take the place of the late Henryk Cioch in the TK.

In addition, Sejm passed a resolution to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Polish Geographical Society.
