Since January 15, residents of Przemyśl and the surrounding area have been served by the Przemyśl Energy District. A Distribution Customer Service Point has also been established. The venture is expected to ensure the development of the region, new jobs and better availability of services guaranteed by PGE.
As part of the reorganization efforts in 2012-2013, changes were made in Przemyśl that adversely affected the PGE facility's ability to function. The potential of the city was lowered, indirectly affecting the lowering of the attractiveness of the largest Polish city located in close proximity to the eastern border of the country, and at the same time the internal border of the European Union.
Accordingly, the Przemyśl City Council in 2016 passed a resolution to maintain the state energy industry in Przemyśl.
- Thanks to the support provided by Mr. Speaker of the Sejm, Marek Kuchcinski - by a resolution of the Board of Directors of the Polish Energy Group Dystrybucja S.A., dated 15/01/2019. - the Przemyśl Energy District and the Area Dispatch Center in Przemyśl have been restored, says Grzegorz Pietrusza (PGE). The RE of Przemyśl was separated from the RE of Jaroslaw and includes the Energy Post in Bircza and the Energy Post in Dynów. The reconstitution of the Przemyśl Power District, which was liquidated during the rule of the PO-PSL coalition, is dictated not only by business considerations related to the dynamically developing local energy market in and around Przemyśl, but also by the desire to improve accessibility to the entire range of services provided by the Company in its distribution customer offer to the local community in Przemyśl, as part of the realization of improved accessibility of services to the population known as the reconstruction of "local Poland," which is one of the main objectives of the "Good Change" governments for Poland, he adds.
According to Grzegorz Pietrusza, in addition to improving accessibility to services provided by PGE Dystrybucja S.A, restoration of RE Przemyśl will also translate into the emergence of new jobs in the Przemysl power industry, related to the need to service new areas included in the Power District, as well as the allocation to the implementation of new activities within the Company's higher organizational level, which is a promotion from the level of the Power Station in Przemyśl to the level of the Power District, as well as the planned future supplementation of the organizational structure of the Company PGE Dystrybucja S.A. with specialized sections within each of the power districts. At the same time, it should be remembered that one job in the power industry generates at least three jobs in the surrounding economy, which is particularly beneficial for the development of the local labor market in Przemyśl.
