Kuchciński appeals to retain positions of Ambulance Service dispatchers

In connection with the planned liquidation of ambulance dispatcher's positions in Podkarpacie from 24 to 11 and the decrease of the number of medical dispatchers' offices from 22 to 4, the MP Marek Kuchciński has sent an intervention to the Minister of Health. After the liquidation the dispatch centers will be located only in Rzeszow, Krosno, Sanok and Mielec.

In practice, this will mean that an inhabitant of Przemysl will be forced to call for an ambulance by calling the dispatcher in Sanok, who will then forward the information about the event to Przemysl through other intermediaries, i.e. operators of emergency numbers in Rzeszow and Krosno. It is hard to believe that this procedure will serve to get Emergency Medical Services to those in need of help as quickly as possible.

Przemyśl is a specific, border city, with tight buildings. There is an increased flow of people and goods. In the Przemyśl district there is a border crossing in Medyka and in the neighbouring Jarosław district - in Korczowa. The crossing points in Budomierz (Lubaczow district) and Malhowice (Przemyśl district) are to be opened. The eastern bypass (part of the A4 freeway) is currently being built in the city, which causes and will cause traffic difficulties for the next two years. During the European Championship (Euro 2012) the tourist traffic is expected to multiply here. Bearing all this in mind one cannot take decisions that are risky for the health and lives of citizens, and such a decision seems to be the intention of such a significant liquidation of the posts of medical dispatchers and the Podkarpacie Ambulance Service dispatch centre - argues Mr Kuchciński in his letter to the Minister. With this in mind, the Member requested that the structure of these positions remain unchanged, including in Przemyśl at the Regional Hospital.
