70th anniversary of priestly ordination of Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk

On Sunday, June 24 at 11.30 am during a solemn Holy Mass in the Archcathedral of Przemysl, among others, the hierarchs of the Church, representatives of public authorities and crowds of believers thanked the Lord God for the gift of priesthood of Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk.

The ceremony was attended by Marek Kuchcinski, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Parliament.

70 years ago, in 1942 in Lviv, Ignacy Tokarczuk was ordained a priest. His ministry was characterized by uncompromising preaching and defense of the truth. Next to the Holy Father John Paul II and the Primate of the millennium, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski, Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk is mentioned as the one who has the greatest merit in resisting the communist system. During his time as bishop of the diocese of Przemyśl more than 200 parishes were established and more than 400 churches were built.

The Vice-Marshal Marek Kuchciński addressed His Excellency with an occasional letter, in which he expressed his deep gratitude to the Jubilarian for his contribution to the strengthening of the Church in Poland and for revealing to us the gift and mystery of the Gospel of Jesus throughout the 70 years of his pastoral ministry.

In his letter, the Deputy Speaker also wished the Archbishop that his teaching be a signpost in the public service, for the good and prosperity of all Poles.
