Today Marek Kuchciński visited several towns in Opole region. Among others he was in Brzeg, where he personally familiarized himself with the condition of the monuments in the city centre and supported the idea of building a bridge over the Odra River to relieve the city. Today Marek Kuchciński visited Brzeg, Grodków, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Nowa Cerekiew, Głubczyce and Opole. In Opole the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm appeared at the press conference summing up the election campaign of Law and Justice.
He declared that together with Opole PiS activists and local government officials he will appeal to the ruling coalition for support in two issues important for the region.
- The first issue is the construction of a bridge in Brzeg, which will relieve the historic part of the city and have a positive impact on flood safety. The second issue is the restoration by the government of the programme for the Oder River, the restoration of navigability along this river, and support for the Czech Republic in the matter of building a large canal between the Bug River and the Oder. This canal would connect northern Europe with south-central Europe. The Opole Voivodeship would greatly benefit from it - says Marek Kuchciński.
The Deputy Speaker of the Sejm also spoke in Opole about the proposal to restore the retirement age: 60 years for women and 65 for men. - The current retirement age makes it difficult and discourages older people from working, and at the same time takes jobs away from young people. This causes 300,000 people from the Opole region to emigrate to the west for work. It is one of the greatest tragedies that the government has not found a solution to this problem for 8 years - adds Kuchciński.
