The 6th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Ukraine was held at the Sejm on May 15. The opening was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchcinski.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Ukraine consists of 40 parliamentarians, proportionally representing all parliamentary clubs from both countries. The permanent delegation of the Polish Sejm and Senate is composed of 16 deputies and 4 senators. Marek Kuchciński is currently the Vice-Chairman of this Assembly. Plenary sessions are convened by the Presidium of the Assembly at least once a year, alternating between the two countries. The first session was held in Kiev in 2003. The goal of the Assembly is to strengthen the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries by discussing issues important to Poland and Ukraine and by adopting common positions in this regard. Within the framework of the Assembly there are also committees established according to the needs. Currently there are three committees: for cross-border cooperation and environmental protection, for European integration and for local government reform.
