Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Sejm, and Adam Bielan, Deputy Speaker of the Senate, met heads of parliaments from the Visegrad Group (V4) countries as part of the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments (CEPU), which is taking place in Luxembourg. The talks were held on the initiative of the Speaker of the Sejm.
During the meeting the issues related to the assumption of the Presidency of the Visegrad Group by Poland in July this year were discussed. As Marshal Kuchciński emphasized, today's meeting in such a group is the last opportunity to discuss issues related to the assumption of the group presidency by Poland. Currently the V4 is presided over by the Czechs.
The working meeting of the Presidents also dealt with issues related to the conclusions of the EU KPP.
Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Sejm, also put forward a proposal to develop a new, common form of interparliamentary cooperation within the Visegrad Group: V4 Parliamentary Assembly. The Presidents also received an invitation to the conference "Carpathian Europe", which will be held in September in Krynica.
