On 25 February, Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński met with János Latorcai, Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly. The main topics of conversation were the common past of our countries, tradition, Christian foundations of Europe or work for the Visegrad Group. 2016 was unanimously called the Year of breakthrough in relations between Poland and Hungary.

On February 26, the Sejm by acclamation passed a resolution making 2016 the Year of Polish-Hungarian Solidarity - on the 60th anniversary of the anti-communist revolt in Poznan and the uprising in Hungary. - If the uprising had broken out in Poland when it did in Hungary, perhaps we would have regained our independence then. We managed to do it 30 years later but we need to complete the changes,' said deputy speaker of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki during the meeting with János Latorcai.
