The Sejm will deal with extending the 500 plus program to include the first child

At Thursday's session of the Sejm, MPs will consider the government's draft, which is part of the so-called Kaczyński's Five, i.e. PLN 500 granted also to the first child.

The explanatory memorandum to the bill states that family policy is one of the most important areas of the current government. The program Family 500 plus, which came into force on 1 April 2016, is the first program since the political transformation that so accentuates so clearly the need for investment in the family, which is its real support.

The proposed change would cover all children under the age of 18. Thus, it repeals provisions concerning all solutions in the income criterion entitling to parental benefit. Covering covering all children with benefits from the Family 500 plus program will increase expenditures from the state budget in favour of families to the level of ca. 4% GDP. This will be increase by 125% of the ratio of the share of expenditures on family policy in GDP in relation to the 2015 expenditures.

The level of expenditures on family policy places Poland in the very forefront of European countries and is proof that support for families is a priority for the Government.
