Strong development impulse for Podkarpacie: more than PLN 100 million for the construction of a border crossing in Malhowice

The Ministry of Finance decided to secure over PLN 109 million for the construction of a Polish-Ukrainian border crossing in Malhovice. This is an opportunity to create several hundred well-paid jobs, develop the border area, transport and trade. In addition, the An over 6-kilometer section of provincial road No. 885 on The road infrastructure on the Przemyśl - Malhowice route will include construction of as many as 5 carriageway lanes at the border crossing, with sidewalks and bicycle lanes, with a total investment cost of over PLN 31 million.

Among foreigners crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border 96 percent are citizens of Ukraine. Travelling up to 50 km into our country, they spend 5.7 billion PLN annually (average 760 PLN), Poles 0.2 billion PLN (average 198 PLN). Among the most frequently purchased items by Ukrainians are materials for construction, renovation or household appliances, and among Poles - fuel and clothing.

The applicable building permit is for:

10 passport control pavilions (5 each for Polish and Ukrainian control services) ,

 bus check-in building,

 Tax Free Clearance Building,

2 special inspection buildings (for Polish and Ukrainian inspection services),

2 traveler restroom buildings (on the inbound side of the RP and on the outbound side of the RP),

2 Border Guard entry points,

control lane canopies (shelters),

other necessary infrastructure and technical equipment.

Built-up area of the designed buildings will amount to 4 349.01 m², and hardened areas (access roads, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.) - 55 980.62 m².

Currently, a draft Resolution of the Council of Ministers amending the diplomatic note is being processed. The signing of the relevant agreement at the government level will enable the Governor to take further steps related to the design and subsequent construction of permanent infrastructure for border checks on foot.
