Marek Kuchciński in Przemyśl: We are restoring the splendor of Polish railroads

On Sunday, December 12, the new PKP timetable came into force and trains returned to 30 Polish towns and cities. The Podkarpacie region is an example of how to rebuild not only local or interregional, but also international connections. In the new timetable, the number of IC connections to and from Rzeszów will increase from 9 to 14, and to and from Przemyśl from 7 to 13. There will also be more international connections. Two trains started operating between Przemyśl and Kiev, one train between Przemyśl and Odessa, and during holidays and at weekends a train from Przemyśl to Lviv and from Lviv to Przemyśl will be operated from the same train set, which will come from Odessa to Przemyśl. The possibility of travelling to Berlin, that is the extension of the Wawer train from Przemyśl to Berlin.

- In 2016, on the occasion of the Europe of the Carpathians conference, Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk spoke with the Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure. It was then that a proposal was made to launch rail connections, which Przemyśl used to be famous for. A few months later a train from Przemyśl to Kiev was launched, which has already been used by over a million passengers - said Marek Kuchciński. - We also spoke with representatives of the German authorities about launching a passenger line between Kiev and Paris via Przemyśl and I hope that this vision will not remain only a dream.

In Przemyśl, the parliamentarians spoke of further opportunities created by the new railroad network connected with the central transportation port. These include a new line to the Bieszczady Mountains: Rzeszów - Brzozów - Sanok, thanks to which the journey from the capital city to Sanok will take up to 3.5 hours. The government's railroad investments are complemented by those of local governments. In the case of the Podkarpacie region, the largest one is the Podkarpacka Kolej Aglomeracyjna.

- For years we have been consistently rebuilding and renewing the railroad infrastructure. This is also supported by our rolling stock policy - modern trains, overhauled carriages and locomotives, modern passenger trains, which allow us to carry out communication in the standards of the 21st century - said Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk.

The number of trains from Podkarpacie to Lower Silesia will increase from 9 to 10. A new IC Siemiradzki train will go on the tracks, which will travel from Przemyśl to Wrocław in less than 6 hours.
