The main topics of the conference "Solidarity and Sovereignty: A Central and Eastern European Parliamentary Meeting" were: renewal of the European Union including regional cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe and strengthening multilateral cooperation of national parliaments in the region. The problem of the eurozone crisis was discussed, as well as the security crisis and the Schengen zone caused by the influx of millions of immigrants to Europe and the effects of Brexit.
It is necessary to working out a common position of Central and Eastern European countries on this issue. Europe is a broader concept than the European Union, and the European Union is a part of Europe. Our goal is to strengthen the European Union through its renewal.
Poland wants to develop the eastern and southeastern borderlands of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
- We do not want to build walls that will divide Central and Eastern Europe again. I propose that the Europe of solidary states
- the union of free with free, of equal with equal - has become the basic model for our actions and discussions.
