Thirty-five months after the Smolensk catastrophe, members of the Law and Justice party, led by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, once again paid tribute to the victims of the tragedy by laying wreaths, as they do every month, in front of the Presidential Palace at Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw.
The ceremony began at 8 a.m. with the Holy Mass in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph the Bridegroom adjacent to the Presidential Palace. Some carried pictures of Lech and Maria Kaczynski and other victims of the plane crash on April 10, 2010.
The gathered people prayed. Law and Justice politicians laid flowers and lit candles. After Jaroslaw Kaczynski laid a wreath in front of the head of state's residence, a prayer was said together. See photo essay.
March 10 marked 35 months since the Smolensk catastrophe. It was the greatest tragedy in the history of postwar Poland. President Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria and several dozen of the most important people of the Polish State died in the crash.
