The opening of the exhibition summarizing the "Silver Quadrilateral" International Triennial of Paintings of the Carpathian Region, organized for the tenth time by the Contemporary Art Gallery in Przemyśl, took place at the IDA Gallery in Krasiczyn Castle.
- The exhibition "The Future of Europe. Unity in Diversity" shows how people are different, and at the same time - how well they can cooperate, how they can unite around a common idea. We are striving for such cooperation in the political forum of the V4, the Carpathian countries. But, of course, this cooperation looks most beautiful in fine arts, music, literature. It can be seen best at the "Silver Quadrilateral" organized for so many years," said Marek Kuchcinski.
The assembled guests and artists were welcomed by the director of the Contemporary Art Gallery in Przemysl, Janusz J. Cywicki, who recalled the ideas behind the event's organizers. "Silver Quadrilateral" is the largest review of contemporary painting by artists of the Carpathian Euroregion. It is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, with the support of the Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, the Mayor of the City of Przemysl and the most important galleries in Rzeszow, Krosno and Kielce. Foreign partners cooperate with the Przemyśl Gallery of Contemporary Art, thanks to which the exhibition presents contemporary works by Polish, Romanian, Slovakian, Ukrainian and Hungarian artists. This year, the Czechs also joined the group as guests.
Artistic curator of this year's Triennale András Kákóczki presented a concept entitled: "The Future of Europe - Unity in Diversity." In his words, "the characteristic of European culture is the unique unity created by diversity. The political and social foundations of today's Europe and the European Union are formed by nation-states that define a common position on many issues, but are attached to their own national characteristics, national language, national art."
The Special Triennial Award for Outstanding Artistic Personality went to Teofil Ioan Stiop from Romania. As announced by Speaker Kuchcinski, one of the award-winning artist's works, "Leviathan," is to be displayed in the Sejm, where it, along with several other paintings, will form the beginning of a Sejm gallery of contemporary art.
The Grand Prix of this year's Triennale, the Prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, was won by Magdalena Cywicka.
A Gallery of Contemporary Art will be established in the Polish Parliament and a painting by Theophilus Stiopa from Romania, "Leviathan," will be one of the first exhibits.
