Speaker of the Sejm: In this part of the world without Turkey, there is no way to ensure the safety of citizens

Regional cooperation on both sides of Schengen, economic, industrial, NATO, tourism and infrastructure cooperation are the main topics of talks between the Speaker of the Sejm and the Turkish President.

A year ago, Speaker Marek Kuchciński was received by Recip Erdoğan in Ankara, so one could say it was a presidential visit.

Kuchciński stressed that the cooperation of countries between the Baltic, Caspian, Black and Mediterranean Seas or the development of the North-South transport route, including Via Carpatia, is particularly important. The president pointed out that more than 200,000 Poles visited Turkey in 2017. The development of communication in this region is therefore particularly important.

The politicians also agreed that it is necessary to exchange experiences regarding national minorities living in the European Union countries, people of different cultures and religions.

The Speaker of the Sejm assured his support for the EU aspirations of Turkey. - We are aware of the fact that in this part of the world without Turkey there is no possibility to ensure security to its citizens,' he said. According to the Speaker, good parliamentary cooperation is also necessary.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan began his visit to Poland with a meeting with President Andrzej Duda. Five important intergovernmental agreements were signed. As the Speaker of the Sejm emphasized - there has not been such a large delegation in his cabinet before. Erdoğan was accompanied by ministers of foreign affairs, defense and economy, among others.
