As part of the "Poland is one" campaign, Marek Kuchcinski met with residents of Koprzywnica. He stressed that during the 2.5 years of Law and Justice rule, it has been possible to introduce the programs and reforms announced in the campaign. He also referred to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's recently announced program, first and foremost the proposals of the "Accessibility Plus" package, which envisages the allocation of PLN 23 billion in the coming years for solutions to make everyday life easier for disabled and elderly people or parents with young children. - These are proposals aimed at launching various measures in local architecture, infrastructure, Kuchcinski said.
The Sandomierz region is one of the largest producers and exporters of apples in Poland. During a meeting with the Speaker of the Sejm, residents asked for support for the centuries-old tradition of fruit farming. They also talked about improving infrastructure, the government's road fund - 5 billion zlotys that will go to municipal and district governments - for road repair and reconstruction. Residents were interested in the construction of a bridge over the Vistula, which would connect the Koprzywnica region with the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The Speaker of the Sejm assured that if the need was proven, he would support it.
Among the questions were those about war reparations. Referring, the Speaker said that Poland is
the only country where reparations were received not directly from the Germans, but through the Soviet Union. - This was not taken care of, it was somehow hidden from the public, and now we have to bring these issues out again and make an analysis and assessment of what costs Poland incurred," Kuchcinski said.
Responding to questions about the protest of people with disabilities in the Diet, he noted that this is a group of people who should receive the main support from the state, just like senior citizens or families with many children. He added that the government is working on a comprehensive system of support for such people. He also stressed that this is a very difficult and sensitive issue, as it involves people who should not be used in any way for political struggle.
- The opposition, through various actions, has caused this group of people, who should have support and care from the state, to be, in my opinion, largely used for political struggle. - This problem of the disabled was hidden, diluted somewhere, sometimes pushed to local governments. The money followed it in insufficient amounts, as a result, the situation was quite dramatic, many local governments could not
cope with maintaining facilities dedicated to supporting people with disabilities," Kuchcinski stressed.
