Mountain rescuers perform a special role on behalf of the state - they take care of people's safety, operating in unusual terrain: in the mountains, which teach not only humility, but also show the beauty of nature and the aesthetics of the landscape. These circumstances in the sphere of humble sensation of sublimity, beauty of nature and landscape particularly distinguish mountain rescuers among various organizations and confraternities operating in the public sphere," said Marek Kuchcinski, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, at the same time acting as chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Mountain Rescue.

The celebration of Rescuer's Day took place in the Zhukovo-Holitsa range near Ustrzyki Dolne, where there were gliding areas for the military before World War II.

This special commitment and dedication of GOPR rescuers was recognized by the Parliament in December 2021, when it passed a law under which, from the beginning of this year, a retired rescuer will receive a pension supplement of PLN 200. Those in power appreciated our seniors, who rescued tourists in the mountains in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, when the GOPR did not have the equipment of today.
