On September 6-8, as part of the Economic Forum in Krynica, an international conference "Carpathian Europe" will be held
Since 2011, Europe of the Carpathians has been inspiring actions aimed at sustainable development of Central and Eastern Europe. The balance between economy and ecology, protection of unique natural areas, cultural heritage, wise use of natural resources - especially drinking water - development of services or infrastructure and strengthening competitiveness and innovation are the priorities of cooperation between the Carpathian countries.
The Carpathian macro-region, as linking the territories of different countries and regions linked by common features and problems, deserves an initiative that would inspire the formation of a fifth strategy, following the example of the Baltic Sea Strategy or the Danube Strategy. Comprehensive proposals were put forward in 2013 - the adoption by the European Union of the operational program "Carpathian Horizon 2020" and the construction of the trans-European transport route "Via Carpathia" and its inclusion in the TEN-T road. This route, running through the eastern areas of the EU, should become a kind of core, around which will be created sustainable development of the entire Carpathian macro-region or internal integration, for example, within Poland.
The Europe of the Carpathians initiative is one of the platforms of regional cooperation, which should be harmoniously linked with other projects inspired by the idea of the Inter-Mediterranean or ABC (Adriatic, Baltic, Black) region. The strength of the "Carpathian Europe" project is that it is based on concrete interests, transit routes, social needs, environmental coherence and capacity for cooperation. A new direction has also been set to reflect and work together to enhance security in the region.
Among the guests invited by Marshal Kuchciński will be parliamentarians, government members, scientists and businessmen from Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, USA, Hungary, Great Britain and Italy.
