The tasks you set yourselves are always ambitious and aim at defending the rights of the agricultural community. You are the heirs of the ideas which guided farmers more than three decades ago. At that time, with great determination, you opposed the communist regime, fighting for freedom of speech and opinion, as well as respect for hard work on the land and respect for property. wrote in a letter to the delegates of the 28th National Congress of Delegates of the Solidarity Trade Union in Płock. - You drew your strength from the unity and support of the Church, as well as workers and intelligentsia. This beautiful legacy of Solidarity is a source of great pride, but also an obligation for current members of the Association. It is impossible to overestimate your contribution to the democratic changes in our country and, above all, your significant contribution to the development of the Polish countryside. Currently, our agriculture does not differ from European standards, and our food continues to conquer new consumer markets, enjoying an excellent reputation - emphasized the Speaker.
The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, who was present at the ceremony, thanked for the trust placed in Solidarity by the current government and assured that the commitments made during the election campaign would be gradually fulfilled. As an example of the already fulfilled promises Andrzej Duda cited the lowering of the retirement age by the Sejm.
The most distinguished members of the Association were awarded by the President with state decorations: Golden Crosses of Merit and Knight's Crosses of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
The most important part of the Convention concerns the role of social dialogue, as well as the functioning of the Social Dialogue Council, established by the President in 2015. Council for Social Dialogue (RDS).
Congress participants will take part in a panel discussion "Codification of labor law as a chance to develop social dialogue" prepared by experts from the National Commission of NSZZ "S".
Recently within the Council of Social Dialogue a working group for European social dialogue has been created. Its moderators are representatives of employers - from the side of Polish Crafts Association and trade unions - from the side of NSZZ "S". The aim of the group is, among others, to support, coordinate and monitor activities aimed at effective implementation in Poland of framework agreements and arrangements covering the European social dialogue as well as at strengthening the role of trade unions and employers in initiatives related to the process of economic governance in the EU.
Tomorrow, delegates will change the status of the union and also review the results of the current work of the NSZZ Solidarity National Commission.
