Bieszczady: Marek Kuchciński opened a photovoltaic power plant

PGE Energia Odnawialna, the largest producer of green energy in Poland, invests in solar farms in Podkarpacie. The one-megawatt investment consists of nearly 3,000 panels with a power of 350 W each, covering an area of 2 ha. Monocrystalline panels, which the power plant in Lesko (Bieszczady) has been equipped with, are the most efficient and effective technology today. Thanks to them electricity can be produced regardless of the weather, even at low light levels, in conditions typical for the Polish climatic zone.

- There should be as many such farms as possible in the Polish Carpathians, Podkarpacie. Thanks to them we will have clean water, clean air and clean energy - said Marek Kuchciński in Lesko.

According to PGE, the launch of four one-megawatt photovoltaic installations will satisfy the electricity demand of approximately 2,700 households. And this is just the beginning.

By developing solar energy, Poland fits into the global trend of shifting away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. This is essential for a secure and sustainable energy system in the future. Its development is also necessary to achieve the EU goal of climate neutrality by 2050. The Green Deal with the key role of photovoltaics is also an opportunity for job growth in the field of low-carbon technologies.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), between 2019 and 2024, renewable energy capacity (RES) is expected to grow globally by 50 percent to reach 1,200 GW. Solar PV alone, meanwhile, is expected to account for more than 57 percent of the growth.
