In connection with the 30th anniversary of the Union of Poles in Ukraine, Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski sent commemorative wishes to the participants of the anniversary convention. The ceremony was held on November 17 in Kiev as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Polish Independence. "I would like to convey words of appreciation to the authorities and members of the organization, as well as expressions of respect to the Polish community. Away from the Motherland, in spite of all odds, you preserve your national identity, language and Polish values," the Speaker of the Sejm wrote in the letter.
Marek Kuchcinski also added that the best proof of commitment to tradition is the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining of independence, which is a holiday for all Poles regardless of where they live. The Speaker of the Sejm expressed the hope that the jubilee of the Union of Poles in Ukraine will become an opportunity not only to summarize and recall the past, but also to look at the contemporary achievements of Polish culture.
The Union of Poles in Ukraine is the largest association of Polish organizations, operating primarily in the center and east of the country.
