From London to Carpathian Europe

In the center of Budapest, in a cafe at 10 Zoltán Street, over "Scruton's tea" and in a London atmosphere, intellectual debates continue, poetry is read, and the ideas and thoughts of a conservative philosopher are developed.

- I met Roger Scruton in my youth, when my friends and I organized meetings of independent culture in Przemyśl. I trust that the Carpathian Europe Club established a week ago in Krasiczyn will have someone to cooperate with, and creative minds will broaden the Carpathian horizons' says the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marek Kuchciński.

Scruton came to Poland to support the anti-communist opposition. He and his colleagues were followed, harshly treated, intimidated and expelled. He was decorated for his services by Polish President Andrzej Duda, and Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon him the title of nobility. He has written more than 40 books on topics ranging from sex and wine to leftist thinkers. So have magazines and opinion journals - mostly conservative.

The café displays Scruton memorabilia donated by the philosopher's wife: books, records, an old-fashioned gramophone, his favorite brands of tea, a teapot, etc.
