Construction works on Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline begin

The Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline will be an important element in the integration of the Polish transmission system with the systems of Slovakia and Ukraine. The route of approx. 72 km will run through communes of the Podkarpackie voivodship: Przemyśl, Fredropol, Ustrzyki Dolne, Bircza, Tyrawa Wołoska, Dydnia and Sanok. Apart from the construction of the gas pipeline, the investment will also include, among other things, the expansion of the Hermanowice interconnection point along with the design and construction of a branch towards Ukraine and the construction of five linear barrier and relief valve facilities. The investment shall be completed in 2019.

The purpose of the project is to increase the energy security of the country as well as to modernize and expand the transmission system in the region of south-eastern Poland. The investment is of great importance in the context of the planned construction of a new gas pipeline Poland-Ukraine, which is to run between the Hermanowice hub on the Polish side and the Bliche Volytsia hub on the Ukrainian side.

GAZ-SYSTEM chose in a tender the contractor responsible for the construction of this gas pipeline, which will be PGNiG Technologie S.A. The estimated construction cost amounts to about 288 million PLN. The subsidy for this investment amounting to over PLN 110 million was obtained from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.
The project is expected to be completed in 2019.
