National Museum of the Przemysl Region co-managed by the Ministry of Culture

The cultural, spiritual and intellectual heritage of the many generations of inhabitants of przemyślan, people living at the crossroads of cultures, at the borderland of nations, is something so unique that it must be taken care of.

The National Museum of the Przemysl Region has over 100 years of tradition. The signing of the agreement for co-management of the MZP by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage is an expression of appreciation of the Museum's work and a gateway to better development and popularization of culture and tradition of the region.

On the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland, this event has a special dimension. In the history of the city, in its proud and moving past, we can find many heroic uprisings, armed speeches, political declarations and self-sacrificing deeds that led to the regaining and maintaining of independence. There is no doubt that the beautiful past full of attitudes shaping the city should be protected from oblivion.

- For Podkarpacie, Poland, Central and Eastern Europe this is a very important event. The government of the Republic of Poland, with the support of the parliament, strengthen and energize exceptional places. They emphasize the great merits of the Przemyśl land for the heritage of our homeland and European civilization", said Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński, who had been striving for support for the museum for many years.

- Today, on the 100th anniversary of regaining independence, the museum, which was created by the patriotic zeal and generosity of its inhabitants, is receiving state patronage. It is a great personal satisfaction for me that behind this decision stand people who in the 1980s fought for free culture, freedom of speech and true freedom for Poland," said Museum Director Jan Jarosz.

The event was also attended by Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński, Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship Władysław Ortyl and President of Przemyśl Robert Choma.
