Dear Sirs,

I cordially thank you for the invitation to the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Colonel Leopold Lis-Kula's death. Not being able to participate in the celebrations, I would like to express my gratitude for cultivating the tradition of freedom and promoting it among younger generations. The independence heritage is one of the most important elements of national identity, a bond connecting generations. We feel this bond on anniversary days more strongly than usual.

Today, our thoughts go out to the hero of the fight for freedom, Colonel Leopold Lis-Kula. Our hearts are bursting with pride that this extraordinary soldier was a son of Podkarpacie region. He aroused great respect among young and older soldiers. In spite of his teenage age he was characterized by indomitable fortitude and admirable steadfastness. Already during his life he was a great legend, and after his death he grew to be a symbol of patriotic values and soldierly virtues. In the Second Republic of Poland, many schools chose him as their patron. It was a visible sign of remembrance and a tribute to a young colonel.

Nowadays Leopold Lis-Kula is also a role model worth following. His determination, hard work and faithfulness to his ideals should be a signpost for young people who are looking for their life path.

I thank all those who promote the ideals of independence and cultivate the memory of heroes who led our country to freedom and independence.

Best regards
