- For us politicians, a multigenerational approach means drawing the most appropriate conclusions from a well-studied past in order to build a good future on them," said Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchciński in Berlin during his meeting with the head of the Bundestag.
The Speaker of the Sejm emphasized that he was in Berlin at the invitation of the President of the Bundestag, and his visit was related to what was happening in the European Union, and the chances for improvement of relations between our countries were very high. - The President spoke favorably of Poland in the media, offering openness and cooperation, while distancing himself from EU federalization. Poland is a sovereign state, the Sejm and Senate make sovereign decisions with primary concern for the interests of Polish citizens," Marek Kuchciński noted. - With Germany we have many barriers to overcome, but I see openness on the part of the President of the Bundestag in the context of a common vision of our place in the European Union. It gives us strength and encourages to cooperate, so we plan to increase engagement of parliamentarians in cooperation between our countries. Changes in the EU regulations, putting it in order for the good of all, becomes a priority here," said the Speaker of the Sejm.
During his visit to Berlin, the Speaker of the Sejm met with the Polish community and visited the "Topography of Terror" museum, which documents the mechanisms and crimes committed by the Germans during World War II in Europe. The museum was established in 2010 in the place where during the Third Reich in the years 1933-1945 the headquarters of the Nazi secret police Gestapo and SS and the Main Reich Security Office were located. - The exhibition makes a shocking impression, but is also a timeless warning against the repetition of actions that took place several decades ago," said the Speaker of the Sejm.
Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Chairman of the Polish-German Parliamentary Group, also participated in the visit.
