A public March of Independence, nominations of generals and presentation of state awards at the Belvedere, a mass at the Temple of Divine Providence and a ceremonial changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were the main celebrations on the occasion of the Independence Day attended by the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński.

The celebration of Independence Day was inaugurated by a community march on Thursday, which ended with laying a wreath at the Jozef Pilsudski Monument.

- We have already done a great deal to restore even the framework of social justice in Poland, but what lies ahead is more difficult. I would like very much, and I think that all of us would like very much, that in two years, when we celebrate the centennial of independence, our sense of strength, our sense of confidence would be greater, stronger than today, that we would be freer and more sovereign," said Jarosław Kaczyński, President of the Law and Justice party, at the monument.

The Speaker of the Sejm started the Independence Day with a ceremony at the Belvedere. President Andrzej Duda decorated those who had served the state and the society, and he also presented the nomination of general Ryszard Kukliński. - General Ryszard Kukliński was a great figure of our history, he was a knight of our independence - said Andrzej Duda.

225 years ago by the resolution of the deputies of the Four-Year Sejm the decision was made to build a temple as a votive offering for the Constitution.

Today, thanks to Warsaw Metropolitan Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, it has been brought to life as a cultural institution, which also houses the Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński and the Pantheon of Great Poles.

After the mass, the Speaker of the Sejm laid flowers at the monument to Jozef Pilsudski, who became Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces on November 11, 1918 and was given the mission to form the National Government.

One of the main points of the solemn celebration of Independence Day is the guard check in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

During his speech, the President announced that he would submit to the Speaker of the Sejm a bill on the National Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence of the Republic of Poland.

The bill fulfills the conviction of the President of the Republic of Poland about the need to honour in a special way the events of 1918, when after 123 years of partitions the efforts of many generations of Polish women and men resulted in regaining independence by the Republic of Poland.
