It was organized by Marek Kuchcinski, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, as well as the Solidarity teachers' union and the Catholic Association of Educators.
Several hundred people from all over the province took part in the discussion about the lack of money and endless reforms. They tried to answer the question, what is the way to make Polish schools function normally.
Teachers, headmasters, as well as heads of villages, heads of districts (starosts) and members of parliament tried to answer the question, what is the way for the Polish school to function normally. And why there is a growing lack of money for this fundamental for the future area of social life.
According to Law and Justice MP Lech Sprawka, former Deputy Minister of Education, the matter is obvious. The costs of maintaining schools are growing, while budgetary outlays, unfortunately, are not. As a result, subsequent local governments do not have enough money to maintain schools and they either liquidate them or transfer them to associations. The problem is that - as unionists alarm - more and more often the necessary savings are made on teachers.
According to the participants of the debate this deepens the crisis in the whole system. According to the Law and Justice party, there are many more symptoms of the crisis, which can be seen in increasingly fierce disputes between teachers, local authorities and parents.
This was the third regional PiS debate devoted to important social issues. Previously, its topic was social policy and unemployment.
