The 36th sitting of the Sejm began with a discussion and voting on the motion of a group of Civic Platform MPs to dismiss the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński from his position. In the absence of an absolute majority of votes, the Sejm rejected the motion.
- The opposition violated the rules of procedure, and now they are making claims to the Speaker of the Sejm. Marek Kuchciński is working to eliminate a set of social pathologies in Poland which are called post-communism. That is why he will have a beautiful place in Polish history and today he will remain the Speaker of the Sejm," PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński said in the Sejm.
He reported that the Opposition MPs who blocked the Sejm in December exceeded their powers, violated its rules of procedure, the Constitution and the Criminal Code.
- When such actions were taken by Samoobrona, you had no doubts that force had to be used. We did not use force, although there were all legal reasons to do so," he said.
