TVP Info: Photographer, photojournalist Erazm Ciołek died on November 13 in Warsaw. He was one of the leading photojournalists recording the democratic changes in Poland. Author of numerous exhibitions and winner of many awards. In 2011 he was awarded the Gloria Artis Gold Medal for Merit to Culture. He passed away at the age of 75. (The ceremonial funeral was attended by Marek Kuchciński, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, and Zbigniew Romaszewski, Jan Żaryn and Krzysztof Czabański, among others)
Erazm Ciołek was one of the leading photojournalists recording the events connected with "Solidarity" and the martial law. He documented meetings of opposition activists, Solidarity manifestations, John Paul II's pilgrimages to Poland, the life of the parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka where Father Jerzy Popiełuszko worked. He took a series of photographs during the funeral of a Warsaw high school graduate, Grzegorz Przemyk, murdered by members of the Citizen's Militia in May 1983. After the fall of communism he cooperated with the editors of "Gazeta Wyborcza", "Nowy Świat" and "Spotkania". In 1989 he was one of the photographers who prepared joint photos of the "Solidarity" candidates in the parliamentary elections with Lech Wałęsa. In 2010, he was a member of the Jarosław Kaczyński's support committee in the presidential elections.
