On December 29th (Sunday), 2013 the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński together with the Parliamentarians of Law and Justice Law took part in the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the inhabitants of Dębowiec who took part in the January Uprising called by the Provisional National Government. Historical sources mention 19 of them, although it is also said that there were 23 volunteers.
In the uprising, which began on the night of January 22-23, 1863, about 30 thousand insurgents died. After this armed uprising of the Polish nation almost 40 thousand Poles were arrested and sent to Siberia.
