Dear Sirs,
Ceremonies on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance of the Aged Soldiers are a time of deep reflection on the Polish painful past. They are also an opportunity to recall the heroes of the anti-communist underground. Heroes whose honor was tainted by the regime's propaganda, and whose names were to be erased from the pages of the history of our country forever. The fault of those who were condemned to oblivion was their love of freedom, loyalty to patriotic tradition and Christian principles. The Conclave Soldiers fought unevenly against the totalitarian system and resisted the security apparatus. They did not believe in a quick victory. However, they had a glimmer of hope that in the future Poland would again be an independent country.
After long years of the People's Republic of Poland, history admitted that they were right and at the same time demanded the truth. Soldiers of the freedom underground are more and more deeply inscribed in the collective memory of Poles. For many of us they are an unrivalled example of courage and bravery.
I thank the organizers of today's ceremony for restoring the memory of the heroes of the independence opposition of the postwar years. I would like to address words of appreciation to the Polish Post authorities for the dissemination of the image of the Incombatants through the issuance of stamps "Engraving of the Soldiers of the Classified". It is a kind of tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Fatherland.
Honor and Glory to the Heroes!
