Alpine skiing with the Speaker of the Sejm

For the second time in Wetlina and Ustrzyki Górne the Olek Ostrowski Memorial in alpine skiing was organized.

The guest of honor was Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski, who for years has been involved in supporting sports competitions, is a patron of the Podkarpackie ski league http://www.pozn.eu/alpejskie/154-podkarpacka-liga-dzieci-i-mlodziezy-w-narciarstwie-alpejskim-2017-2018 or Carpathian Cup competitions in alpine and cross-country skiing. He puts on skis himself whenever he gets the chance.

Letter from the Speaker of the Sejm to the participants in the Olek Ostrowski Memorial

Aleksander Ostrowski was a rescuer of Bieszczady GOPR, member of Mountaineering Club in Cracow and instructor of skiing PZN. He combined high-mountain climbing with ski touring, i.e. high-mountain skiing. As the first Pole, in 2014 he climbed and skied from the summit of Czo Oju in the Himalayas (8201 m) without using oxygen. He went missing on July 25, 2015 on the slope of Gasherbrum II (8035 m) when he and Piotr Śnigórski abandoned their attack on the summit and tried to ski back to base camp. On January 11 this year. Olek Ostrowski would have turned 30.
