On the 70th anniversary of the death of Home Army soldiers - Danuta Siedzikówna, a.k.a. Inka, and Feliks Selmanowicz, a.k.a. Zagończyk - a solemn funeral was held in the presence of the highest state authorities: President of Poland Andrzej Duda, Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński, Marshal of the Senate Stanisław Karczewski, and Prime Minister Beata Szydło.
"Inka", a nurse of the 5th Wileńska Brigade of the Home Army of Major "Łupaszka", fighting for the freedom of her Homeland, made the supreme sacrifice - her life. The NKVD-UB court sentenced her to death for anti-communist conspiracy. She was only 17 years old. Until the end, however, she believed that she was doing the right thing. Together with "Inka" the "Zagonczyk" was executed, the deputy platoon commander of the 5th Wileñska Brigade of the AK, commander of the 2nd company of the 4th Wileñska Brigade of the AK. He died at the hands of his compatriots because he did not accept that Poland should live in betrayal and lies. Their resting place was unknown for almost 70 years. On August 28th, they finally received a dignified burial, with the highest honors. After a mass in St. Mary's Basilica in Gdańsk the funeral procession went through the streets of the city to the Garrison Cemetery. The service was celebrated by the Gdansk Metropolitan Archbishop Slawoj Leszek Glodz.
