The Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński took part in the unveiling of the monument commemorating the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland. The monument contains urns with soil from battlefields, including World War I.
September 16 is the anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Andrew Bobola. The priest was born in Strachocina, and since 2002 he has been the patron saint of Poland. - Today we have come to Strachocina, the land of Sanok, to the place connected with the martyr and patron of our independence, St. Andrew Bobola. We have come to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poland's rebirth', said the Speaker of the Sejm. - Today, in this place, we unveiled a monument dedicated to the independence of the Republic of Poland. This monument is strengthened and sanctified with ashes from many places of memory of our compatriots, places of remembrance of Poland and Poles - he added.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Beata Szydło, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Ryszard Terlecki, and Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro.
