On the occasion of the beginning of the school year, the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński visited the Słowacki High School in Przemyśl, where he was a student. A modern sports hall will be built at the I High School as a part of the investment project "The Centre of Badminton Development in Przemysl". The Marshal reminded that this year the city gained international fame thanks to the Victor Polish Junior 2018 in badminton, which attracted players from more than 30 countries.
The Marshal recalled the important anniversaries connected with Przemyśl, i.e. 1468 - the beginning of the bicameral Sejm, 1648 - when Andrzej Maksymilian Fredro was elected Marshal of the Sejm, 1848 - when during the Spring of Nations several hundred Przemyśl volunteers joined the Hungarian side to fight for independence and freedom and 1918 - when the first victorious battle took place - the Battle of Przemyśl. He then recalled March 1968, with an important Przemyśl accent - students from several high schools, including Słowacki High School, supported students from major universities during the uprising.
Marek Kuchciński thanked the Słowak authorities for reaching into the past when thinking about the past.
- On the banner we wandered behind is a passage from a poem by Juliusz Słowacki: "Honor to thoughts, from which flashes a new spirit and a new form". This thought comes true today," emphasized the Marshal.
He wished the high school students prosperity and all the best. He encouraged them to be guided in life by at least two principles: virtu and prudence, that is, courage and fortitude in action and consistency in reaching the goal combined with prudence.
