Huge responsibility and great challenges are the hallmark of 2022 in the activities of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. – We faced a humanitarian crisis in Europe, the solution of which was taken on by Poland. At this time, we must simultaneously face the international energy crisis, Russia's military aggression and tough negotiations with the European Union, which have shown how important Poland's role is in being a security buffer between the well-fed and comfortable Western Europe and the eastern part fighting for independence - sums up Marek Kuchciński, former chairman of the Commission, currently the head of the prime minister's office.
Under his leadership, over 100 meetings and telephone conversations with politicians, including from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Finland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Georgia. The talks concerned interparliamentary cooperation, strengthening relations in the area of Europe, the Carpathians, the Three Seas Initiative, the Weimar Triangle, the Visegrad Group, the Baltic Three, the Eastern Partnership, as well as the situation in Belarus and its border with the EU, in Serbia, Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh. After February 24, talks were dominated by the subject of Russian aggression against Ukraine; possible geopolitical scenarios, ensuring security in the region and support - both military and humanitarian.
The Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee also adopted a draft resolution on war reparations from Germany.
