Bieszczadian Christmas wafer in Ustrzyki Dolne with the participation of the Speaker of the Sejm

At the invitation of the Bieszczady Starost Marek Andruch on January 20 the Speaker of the Sejm came to the Natural Museum of the Bieszczady National Park in Ustrzyki Dolne.

The visitors were welcomed by Dr. Ryszard Prędki, director of the Bieszczady National Park. Among the guests were MP Bogdan Rzonca, prelate Jozef Bieniek from the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Ustrzyki Dolne, director of the gas company's branch in Jaslo Adam Peziol, councilman B. Pleskacz from the municipality of Ustrzyki Dolne priests from parishes throughout the Bieszczady district, from the deaneries of Ustrzyki and Lutowiska, mayors, presidents of councils, commanders, representatives of the services, guards, State Forestry, local government officials, representatives of associations and foundations.

The gathered guests listened to a concert of Christmas carols performed by the children's schola and choir of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish in Ustrzyki Dolne, high school students and the Werchowyncy band.

The concert was followed by short speeches by invited guests. Speaker of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchcinski reminded the audience that the beginning of the year prompts everyone, including parliamentarians, to do some summing up and to plan the next effective activities. He said that in the past year, the duty to the Polish people and the citizens of the Republic of Poland has been fulfilled quite well from the perspective of the parliament, and that the parliament enjoys significant public support, despite the fact that, in the opinion of many analysts, this is one of the most difficult terms of the Sejm, while the current government majority is the first to implement its election program, which it proclaimed in its election campaign, on such a large scale. The government's goal is to strengthen the Polish state, quickly restore national pride and consciousness, and launch programs aimed at supporting Poland's least developed areas.

- We are trying to make the so-called sustainable development include all areas and social groups," the marshal said. - This is also happening in the Bieszczady Mountains. Looking for a recipe on how to implement a development policy, including infrastructural development, in this corner of Poland, one of the most beautiful and one of the most famous in the world, parliamentarians have several points of reference, such as the High Bieszczady, Solina, Arlamow (one of the most attractive in terms of the environment of private institutions in Central Europe). In the course of international meetings, including those related to Carpathian Europe, we noticed that on the map of the three provinces of Carpathian Poland (Silesian, Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian) it is precisely this region that lacks a major sports center. There is none in either the Low Beskids or the Bieszczady Mountains. We decided that if the state budget finally allows investment decisions, we will encourage our authorities, our finance minister, the prime minister, to create a state institution in Podkarpacie. - A Central Sports Center based in the municipality of Ustrzyki Dolne. This decision has already been made," stated Marek Kuchcinski.

It will be the country's third center, focused mainly on winter sports, preparing our youth and senior teams for various competitions, but to a lesser extent open for commercial purposes as well. Its exact location is not yet known.

The Speaker also announced the realization of the construction of another border crossing, as well as the reconstruction of the Przemyśl - Malhowice - Chyrów - Krościenko - Ustrzyki - Zagórz railroad line, where tourists will cross the Union border twice.
