On March, 10th in the Sejm the parliamentarians met with the Hungarian Ambassador to Poland Orsolya Kovács and the newly elected Polish Ambassador in Budapest Sebastian Kęćek. The topic of conversation was the current situation in Ukraine, support for refugees and counteracting disinformation.
According to the Hungarian Embassy, 548,135 people had entered Hungary from Ukraine by 00:00 on March 16 (270,157 people crossed the Hungarian-Ukrainian border and 277,978 people crossed the Hungarian-Romanian border).
The government has offered full medical care for Ukrainian children who need hospital treatment.
The aid program , "Bridge to Transcarpathia" has already received 638 million forints from the Hungarian people. The government has donated 800 tons of food and 200 tons of hygiene items to Ukraine. In addition, Hungary donated 100 thousand liters of fuel to help Ukraine.
Hungarians have imposed sanctions on Russia in solidarity with the European Union and NATO and support Ukraine's EU membership, and Prime Minister Orbán has argued for support for Ukraine's sovereignty and integrity.
Dependence on Russian energy, gas and oil supplies Hungarians, however, oppose sanctions on the energy market.
Director of the Felczak Institute for Polish-Hungarian Cooperation Maciej Szymanowski also participated in the meeting.
