On Thursday, Marek Kuchciński participated in the panel closing the meeting in Krynica on the last day of the Forum. The topic of the discussion was: "Project: Europe. What recipe for the next decades?". - One of the fundamental problems of Europe is an identity crisis. The prescription is not a quick integration in the direction of the United States of Europe, but ordering the functioning of the Union inside, establishing a system of values and gradual achievement of integration through respect for sovereign states - said the Speaker of the Sejm.
According to Speaker Kuchciński, the foundation of the EU crisis is the departure from traditional Christian values. The Speaker points out that these values have been lost. He also stressed that EU member states should have respect for the need to strengthen the independence and sovereignty of new European countries.
The Speaker of the Sejm also spoke about the demographic crisis and reminded that Poland, while supporting the incoming Ukrainians, applies Christian values, which should be at the basis of the EU. - More than 1.5 million Ukrainians work in Poland and we estimate that at least 20 percent came because of the war in the east of the country. This is our answer in the context of the Europe of Homelands and the Christian approach to people.
Former Romanian President Traian Băsescu, former Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore and journalist Boris Reitschuster also took part in a panel discussion on the future of Europe, moderated by columnist Maurizio Caprara.
