On September 19, 1939, the following took place near Wólka Węglowa the last charge in the history of Polish cavalry made with the participation of the whole cavalry regiment.
Despite heavy losses: over a hundred killed lancers and 100 wounded, which was 20% of the total, both cavalry regiments (14th Jazlowiecki Lancer Regiment and 9th Małopolski Lancer Regiment) managed to get to besieged Warsaw.
