This year marks a special Jubilee, which will become an important event for Przemysl.
Exactly 105 years ago, in (May) 1912, the Przemyśl Ambulance Service was established. At that time it was one of the first ambulance stations in Poland (in pre-war Poland, in the former Lvov Voivodeship, after Lviv it was the second, and together with Tarnów, the sixth in the country). Today it is the oldest medical emergency service in the Podkarpacie Province, currently operating at the Regional Hospital in Przemyśl.
Thus, in September we will celebrate the 105th Anniversary of this esteemed and much deserved institution for the society.
As in the case of other towns, its creation was influenced by a number of tragic events, such as: the train crash in Medyka near Przemyśl on May 4, 1911, which occurred after a collision between train no. 70, coming from Przemyśl and train no. 170, coming from Mościsko. As a result of this collision two people died and several others were injured.
Accidents of this magnitude and a simple awareness of the need to provide medical assistance to citizens led the Przemyśl City Council to issue a resolution on February 8, 1912 on the need for an "emergency station."
