The Sejm decided not to raise electricity prices

At its 75th extraordinary session, the Sejm adopted a law providing for, among other things, quadrupling the excise tax on energy and reducing the transition charge by 95 percent.

The changes will reduce the bills of individual consumers as well as businesses and local governments by more than PLN 3.5 billion, and energy prices will remain at the level of the first half of 2018.

This solution will make in 2019. Poles, entrepreneurs and local governments will pay almost PLN 8 billion less.

With the EC's approval, the government will be able to sell in 2019.
unused CO2 emission allowances, which is expected to generate PLN 5 billion.

Under the bill, sellers who purchase energy in the market in 2019 at a higher price than the established sales price will be directly reimbursed for the lost revenue from the Price Differential Payment Fund created by the bill.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reminded that currently electricity prices in Poland are among the lowest for households across Europe.

From the funds saved, one billion PLN will be allocated to
green investments.
